Ever since I returned from my trip to NYC, I’ve been craving some good Mexican food—well, as good as the American version gets. That’s when I stumbled upon this little Mexican diner called DF Mexico in Shoreditch, East London.
This restaurant perfectly captures the Shoreditch vibe, with its exposed brickwork and minimalist yet functional furniture. The open kitchen allows you to watch as your burrito is made right in front of you. The crowd is your typical East London hipster scene—think relaxed vibes, torn skinny jeans, Dr. Martens, and beanie hats, even when it’s warm outside.
Food:
The food was absolutely amazing. For starters, my friends and I shared grilled steak tacos, veggie nachos, and beef nachos. Everything was delicious, and with prices ranging from £5.45 to £6.45, it’s hard to beat.
For the main course, I went with steak and chips (boring but tasty) and also had a burrito. I know that’s a lot of food, but I was really, really hungry, and I cleaned my plate. Main courses range from £10 to £15, which is pretty reasonable given the quality.
One of my favourite things about this restaurant has to be the bottomless drinks. For just £2.30, you can have as much hibiscus, horchata, or lime and chia as you want. Or, if you prefer, you can stick to a classic like Diet Coke.
Service:
The service setup is similar to Nando’s—you choose what you want, then head to the front to place your order. They even have self-service computers, like the ones in Tesco, for quicker ordering. Very convenient!
Recommendation:
I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone and everyone. The food was fantastic, the prices were great, and the overall atmosphere was relaxed and chill. I’d give it an 8/10.
