Fashions most extravagant and most celebrated event happened last night, now its time to separate the good ensembles from the bad. The theme for this years ball was, a celebration of American designer Charles James. Who designed beautiful billowy gowns back in the day, the kind you’d see in an old 1930’s Elizabeth Taylor movie.
Lets begin with Sarah Jessica Parker in this magnificent Oscar De La Renta creation along with long elbow length gloves, one of my absolutely favourite looks of the night. When it comes to extravagant fashion SJP never fails.
Was I the only one surprised that Kendall Jenner was at the Met Ball Gala? Anyways she looked ravishing in this Topshop number and who knew Topshop did ball gowns? The Chopard diamonds, simple makeup and tussled hair were perfect, to think that she’s not even 20 and she has her fashion and makeup game on point like this, urghhh you’re fabulosity (new word) annoys me Kendall.
Obviously I’m going to talk about Kim’s outfit next. This silk Lanvin dress is everything that Lanvin is; chic, simple, feminine and French. I have to give it to Mrs West she looked gorgeous and you know she needed some redemption after that Givenchy disaster she wore last year. The 50’s hairstyle and fresh makeup all complemented this look, I even love the fact that the dress had pockets.
This Donna Karan dress is the kind of dress you can only pull of at the Met Gala. The thigh high gold strap shoes worked so well with the dress, the hair and makeup were exquisite, Rita you get a gold star.
I believe this is the most covered up Rihanna has been since 2007, don’t get me wrong skin is in but less is more and this dress said it perfectly! This Stella McCartney creation was simple but elegant, and elegance is something we all want to see Miss Fenty display more of instead of her backside and breast. The only thing I didn’t like was the hair, we really need Rihanna to go back to the pixie cut, it was the best hairstyle she has ever had.
Leighton Meester looked so luxuriant in this champagne coloured Gucci dress and I’m sure having arm candy like Ryan Reynolds only helps the look.
This opulent apple red Ralph and Russo dress was worn by on of my favourite models, Ms Arizona Muse. She looked like a Hollywood starlet just pure elegance.
Jessica Pare looked smashing in this Michael Kors gown, accompanied with a high bun and diamond earrings.
We cannot talk about fashion without talking about Mary-kate and Ashley Olsen. Mary-kate wore vintage Gianfranco Ferre and Ashley wore Chanel. There’s really nothing more to say apart from breathtaking!!!
Last but certainly not least, queen Beyonce closed the red carpet in this sheer custom made Givenchy couture dress along with towering black platforms, natural makeup and opulent jewels.
