Big changes are coming to the British high street River Island has announced plans to close 33 of its stores as part of a major restructuring move.

The fashion favourite, known for its trend-led pieces and affordable style, is facing a significant drop in sales and rising costs, prompting the decision to scale back its brick-and-mortar presence.

With more shoppers going digital, the brand is shifting focus to online retail while still keeping its signature aesthetic alive. Around 71 additional stores may also be affected through rent renegotiations. It’s a bold move, and sadly, it could put over 1,000 jobs at risk.
