A New Chapter for the Fashion Powerhouse
Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, founders of Proenza Schouler, announced their departure as creative directors, effective January 31, 2025. They will remain on the board and as shareholders. The duo expressed a desire to embrace new creative opportunities, stating, “We have always valued risk-taking and a sense of adventure and feel ready to open ourselves up for whatever comes next.”
Proenza Schouler was established in 2002 after McCollough and Hernandez graduated from Parsons School of Design. The brand name combines their mothers’ maiden names: Proenza, from Hernandez’s mother, and Schouler, from McCollough’s mother.
Known for redefining American sportswear with a modern aesthetic, the label gained acclaim for its innovative designs and craftsmanship. Notably, they won the inaugural CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund prize in 2004 and multiple CFDA awards in subsequent years.

The brand’s CEO, Shira Suveyke Snyder, is leading the search for new creative leadership to continue the legacy McCollough and Hernandez built over two decades.
