Restaurant Review| Le Comptoir de la Gastronomie, Paris

If you ever find yourself in Paris and craving a quick bite that’s quintessentially French, I highly recommend Le Comptoir de la Gastronomie. Located on Rue Montmartre, not far from Châtelet Les Halles.

This cosy, casual spot is perfect for a snack or light meal, offering outdoor seating and a wheelchair-friendly setup. Though vegetarians might find limited options, the traditional French fare makes it worth the visit.

On my recent trip, I tried their bone marrow, served with a side of salad and toast. I had never had bone marrow before, so I was curious. While it’s not the most flavourful dish—essentially a rich, fatty bite—it pairs well with a glass of rosé, especially after a long day of walking around the city. It’s definitely not a filling meal, but ideal for a light snack, especially if you’re on a keto diet (just skip the toast).

The décor is classic Parisian, with slim rattan chairs and small tables that seem to rock with every move. Next time, I’ll be back for the escargot or their famed French onion soup!
