Controversy and Allegations of Hair Loss
Mielle Organics, a beloved Black-owned haircare brand, is facing backlash as several TikTokers and hair bloggers claim that its new product formula is causing hair loss. Founded in 2014 by Monique Rodriguez, Mielle Organics became a go-to for many women, particularly in the natural hair community, offering products that catered to textured hair with ingredients like avocado, honey, and rosemary. The brand quickly gained a loyal following, praised for its nourishing formulas designed to strengthen and grow hair.
However, recent reports suggest that Mielle Organics may have changed the formulas of its products, particularly the popular Rosemary Mint Scalp & Hair Strengthening Oil. Social media platforms, especially TikTok, have been flooded with posts from users claiming that their hair has become more brittle and that they are experiencing hair loss after using the new formulations. Hair bloggers have echoed these concerns, sharing their experiences and urging their followers to stop using the products.
In response, Mielle Organics founder Monique Rodriguez addressed the allegations, reassuring customers that the formulas have not changed drastically and that the products continue to meet the same high-quality standards. She expressed concern over the claims but encouraged users to consult professionals before making assumptions about the cause of their hair issues.
Despite Rodriguez’s response, the controversy continues to grow, with many consumers calling for transparency and further investigation into the ingredients. For now, Mielle Organics faces a growing divide between loyal customers and those experiencing hair concerns.
