Restaurant Review| Bar Beach Grill

If you’re looking for a lacklustre brunch with overly sweet, barely boozy cocktails, Bar Beach Grill in Lewisham might be the place for you.

Located just around the corner from the train station, this newly opened restaurant falls short in both food and service. Despite advertising a “bottomless boozy brunch,” the reality is far from it—cocktails are syrupy, lacking any real kick, and do little to enhance the overall experience.

Upon arrival, we found our table wasn’t ready and had to wait, despite having a reservation. Once seated, we were left ignored for long stretches of time, with 25 minutes passing before someone took our drink orders. By the time our food order was taken, another 20 minutes had gone by. We ordered the Hunter’s Brunch, which consisted of lukewarm wings, sausage, and an overcooked lamb chop. Though the flavours were decent, the meal seemed to have been sitting out too long. The extra sides of mac and cheese and fried plantain were similarly uninspiring.

The cocktails were even worse—a sugary concoction of juices that tasted more like a mocktail. The service was abysmal, with inattentive staff who seemed more interested in chatting at the counter than serving customers. The restaurant itself is small, cramped, and poorly maintained. The dirty bathroom and broken fixtures were especially concerning for a newly opened venue.

Recommendation: If you’re over 25 or expect a decent dining experience, skip Bar Beach Grill. It’s better suited for teenagers or students on a budget, but for anyone seeking quality food, service, or atmosphere, it’s a hard pass.
