A Mediterranean Gem
Nestled in the heart of the Mediterranean, Cagliari, the capital of Sardinia, captivated me with its stunning views, rich history, and vibrant culture. One of the first things I noticed about Cagliari was its exceptional walkability. The compact city centre invited me to explore its charming streets on foot, making it easy to discover hidden gems around every corner.
The city offered breath-taking views, particularly from the Castello district. Perched atop a hill, this historic area provided panoramic vistas of the Gulf of Cagliari and the city below. Whether I was admiring the view from a rooftop bar or wandering through ancient streets, the scenery was always captivating.
Cagliari’s excellent weather was another draw, with mild winters and warm, sunny summers. This climate made it a year-round destination, perfect for enjoying outdoor activities and exploring the city’s many attractions.
The city’s transport system was efficient and affordable, with buses and trains connecting me to various parts of Sardinia. Whether I was heading to the beach or exploring nearby towns, getting around was a breeze. Plus, the cost of living in Cagliari was relatively low, making it a budget-friendly destination for travellers like me.
With Poetto Beach being the most famous beach in Sardinia, you know I had to experience the soft sand on my feet and take in some rays. Stretching for miles, Poetto offered soft sand, clear waters, and a lively promenade lined with cafes and bars.

One of the highlights of my trip was taking the underground tour, which revealed Cagliari’s fascinating history hidden beneath its streets. Exploring ancient tunnels and chambers gave me a deeper appreciation of the city’s past. Another unforgettable experience was the Sella del Diavolo boat cruise. We swam in crystal-clear waters and enjoyed a delicious charcuterie board onboard, making for a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure.
As a food lover, I found Cagliari to be a paradise, boasting a plethora of restaurants that cater to every palate. From traditional Sardinian cuisine to modern Mediterranean dishes, the dining options were endless. I especially enjoyed the gelato.

In Cagliari, I discovered a perfect blend of natural beauty, rich history, and modern amenities. Its walkability, delectable dining options, stunning views, pleasant weather, and easy access to beaches made it an ideal destination for my Mediterranean getaway. The charm of Cagliari unfolded with every step, revealing a new adventure at every turn.
