“I love weddings, but I’m not much of a bridal person,” says fashion and beauty entrepreneur Olivia Palermo. “I take every opportunity to make something into a fashion moment.”
Olivia Palermo and Johannes Huebl’s love story began in 2008 at a movie screening in New York City. They began dating that November and this year marks their 17th year together and their 10th year of marriage. Johannes proposed on New Year’s Eve in 2013 in St. Barts, marking the beginning of their lifelong journey.
For her 2014 civil ceremony, Olivia chose a custom Carolina Herrera look, wearing cashmere with feathers and silk faille shorts with a tulle overlay skirt. This unique ensemble, inspired by a skirt she admired, went viral and captivated fashion enthusiasts worldwide. “I never really thought about what the response to it might be,” she admits. Their intimate ceremony in Bedford, New York, included only immediate family and close friends.
Ten years later, Olivia and Johannes finally had their long-awaited wedding celebration in Germany. The couple, who had always intended to have a big wedding, chose Brenners Park-Hotel & Spa in Baden-Baden for their anniversary celebration. “It was like picking up where we left off in 2014,” Olivia notes.
The celebration began with a cocktail reception at the hotel. Olivia wore a short pink Simkhai dress for photos, then changed into Giambattista Valli Haute Couture. The event featured a hot pink carpet, lush greenery, floral arrangements, and a dramatic dining room with cherry-blossom centrepieces.

Dinner transitioned into a party at Fritz & Felix restaurant, resembling a private London club. Olivia changed into a Bronx and Banco sequined dress, and the party continued until dawn. The next day, guests enjoyed a luncheon at Iffezheim Racecourse, where Olivia wore a candy apple green dress.
The weekend concluded with a farm-to-table dinner at Ebanat on the Kopp Winery grounds. Olivia dazzled in a Giambattista Valli ensembles, emphasising sustainability by reusing florals from previous events.
Reflecting on the weekend, Olivia says, “It was the most amazing finale to a weekend we didn’t want to end. It was a beautiful series of events at quite different locations that allowed all our friends and family to come together in the south of Germany for a weekend that was all about love and friendship.”
