Fashion News| Condé Nast workers strike. Again!

Condé Nast Union has announced a decisive stance amidst protracted contract negotiations and proposed layoffs. The majority of union members, representing prestigious titles including Vanity Fair, GQ, Glamour, and Bon Appétit, have vowed to “walk off the job” if substantive progress is not achieved.

According to a statement from the NewsGuild of New York, the union’s organizing body, negotiations have been described as progressing at a “glacial pace,” prompting frustration among members. In a dramatic turn of events, the union delivered this announcement through a video during a bargaining session, signaling their readiness to take action.

The statement further outlines plans for “a week of union actions” in the upcoming days, setting the stage for potential disruptions ahead of the highly anticipated Met Gala. The event, sponsored by Condé Nast and presided over by Anna Wintour, the esteemed Vogue editor-in-chief and Condé Nast chief content officer, has traditionally seen the participation of Vogue employees in various capacities.

“Our members are committed to securing a fair and equitable contract,” affirmed Susan DeCarava, president of the NewsGuild of New York. “They refuse to accept anything less than a deal that reflects the value they bring and acknowledges their indispensable contributions to Condé Nast’s success.”

It’s time for Anna Wintour to loosen those purse strings!
